The Week That Was - W/E 25/04/2014

This week's drawing is dedicated to those who have served, and those who are serving, many of whom have paid the ultimate price, to secure the freedom we know today.  Thank you.
"They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old;
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them."

Diva's Weekly Challenge #164

The Diva's Challenge for this week was to take some inspiration from our Earth as we celebrated Earth Day this week.  There are a lot of people and organisations working together to do great work for our planet. I personally admire John Butler who has worked passionately as an advocate for the environment, "his guitar is his cannon".  John says we have to "Treat Yo Mama With Respect" and with that playing as I draw, I'm inspired to zentangle.

Happy Easter!! Made by Joey Weekly Zentangle Challenge #4

Happy Easter Everyone!!  Here's my best shot at drawing an Easter Egg.  Joey challenged us to have an egg in our tile, use four zentangle patterns, and the "Warped Eggs" tangle pattern was to be used as well.  A challenge like that always takes me back to basics, stringing out a tile, and letting patterns fall into place from there.  I've used "Warped Eggs" on the egg, "Cubine", "Chemystery", "Pokeroot" and "Crescent Moon".
Enjoy this special time, I hope you have a wonderful Easter.

It's a String Thing #36

Adele Bruno's "It's A String Thing" Challenges continue to be the ones I find most challenging.  Every week I find I am pushing all of my boundaries, turning the tile numerous times before I feel where I want to go.  That's not to mention the tangle choices!  Each and every week there are new tangle patterns, one's I've never used before, and this week, I'm using "Buttercup" and "Bunzo" for the very first time.  I love the pshychadelic feeling of "Bunzo"!  "Bubbles" is a favourite tangle pattern of mine, I use it often, but in this week's challenge, I felt the tile only needed a couple of "Bubbles", just bursting from the top of the tile.
Until I'm challenged again next week, Stay beautiful

Feeling Grizzly!

As Cyclone Ita continues to deliver heavy rain to North Queensland, I thought today was the perfect day to continue my Alaska drawings (talk about climatic polar opposites!).  I've mentioned before how much I adore Alaska, her beauty and her wildlife are awesome and I have wanted to tangle some of her iconic animals for a while.  I've previously done a moose and today I finished my handsome Grizzly Bear.  I love him!

It's a String Thing #35

Adele at Tickled to Tangle continues to challenge!  This string and the tangle choices this week, were interesting.  I turned and turned and turned my tile, hoping to get a feel for the string.  It took some time, but finally something came together.  This week more than any other I'm looking forward to seeing what my fellow zentanglers have created from this string.  Adele's challenges continue to push my boundaries, making me step out of my comfort zone, and as difficult as I find it at times, I'm loving it!
Show me what you got zentanglers!!

Made by Joey - Weekly Zentangle Challenge

I missed last week's Made by Joey Zentangle Challenge.    This week Joey challenged us to use the initial of our first name and tangle patterns starting with the same letter.  I've used the "crescent moon", "chard", "coral seeds", "chemystery" and "croon" tangle patterns.  I might just laminate this one and turn it into a coaster!

The Diva's Weekly Challenge #162

Here's my tile for this week's Diva's Challenge in which we were asked to use our initials as a base string.  Underneath all those beautiful patterns is a CM and I've used the "hollibaugh", "fang", "bubbles" and "dooleedo" tangle patterns.  Thanks for the challenge Miss Diva xx

Tackle it Tuesday brought to you by the Letter "F"

This week's Tackle it Tuesday Challenge brought to you by the Letter "F"!  I love these challenges at Cheryl's Artful Creations.  I had to try out "FeatherFall" it was begging me to give it a go, and I tried to balance it with "Fang" and I think the tangle patterns work well together.  Can't wait for next week Cheryl!

It's a String Thing #34

This week's It's a String Thing #34 at Tickled to Tangle.  Geez I was challenged with this tile.  I absolutely struggled to achieve harmony with the tangles suggested and I started and restarted the tile many times.  In the end I went back to basics and the eleven steps of zentangling.  As soon as I did this, the flow happened and the tile came together.  I've used "Shattuck" and "SandSwirl" tangle patterns.  Thanks to Adele for a great challenge!
